Snow. And ramblings.

So apparently its snowing. Why must we make small talk about this? So far today, I've had five people tell me they like the snow. And eight against. I fall into the latter category. Although, its better than rain. Also apparently at sfu, cause were all idiots, they closed off part of the hill in the morning. The buses couldn't get up and they made students walk half way up the hill. Which probably explains why we had half the people in the lecture today. Oh well, just glad I don't have to go in on Thursday now.
Speaking of buses. Has anyone seen those new transit buses yet? I cant quite place it, but there's something off about them. Maybe its just cause there so low to the ground and the seats aren't as good. Or maybe its just cause there new. Either way im not sure im sold on them.
I think I'll end this post by saying, Tyra Banks is an evil that must be stopped. I don't get her new talk show. Is it just another one of these talk shows, which only goal is to destroy other peoples lives on national television? Plus what the hells up with America's Next Top Model. Who the hell watches this crap?
Anyway Im done venting for the evening. Only 4 more days of classes to go. Why wont it end?

Help Dunning Decide#4

Okay. So as you all know, Im going to coldplay in January. What you may not know is, due to high demand they put on a second show. And what you certainly will not know is as of 10mins ago I bought 2 tickets for the lower level. Its off to the side of the stage, but at least its not nose bleeds. This however creates a dilemma for me. And I cant decide. Should I

A) Sell off the first pair of tickets and make a little money back or
B) go to both shows

Movies.

Maybe its because the end of term is coming soon. Maybe its because rexin told me about the amount of movies he's been buying. Or maybe its just because I'm lazy and unoriginal. Whatever the case may be, I've been seriously wanting to just sit on my ass and watch movies. Perhaps I'll do some of that this weekend. Seeing as how my final essay is all but finished.
Anyway I know whenever we get together to watch movies, it always without fail results in us standing around the blockbuster or Rogers for 40 mins trying to decide on something we all want to see.
Now we tried to combat this problem before, for example Dave's movie list. Which has seem to mysteriously disappeared. But while talking to Vikram I mentioned that time we once had a Nicholson night, that no one seems to remember. Then I got to thinking, we need to have more of these movie themed nights. It would probably help cut back the 40 mins of debating. So with that in mind I am now accepting any and all suggested themes. These themes will then be put into a large had. Preferably grahams bowler. If he still has it.
Now Keep in mind these suggestions can be anything. From Daves Scarlet marathon (though that's been done) to Vikrams 24 hours of 24. Whatever comes out of that bowler hat, we will do.....NO BITCHING. The bowler hat will show us the light.

Stuff.

I dunno why. Maybe it has something to do with my shitty job, but latley I've been in the mood to watch Clerks. Its been a really long time since I'v seen a good kevin smith movie that wasnt Dogma. Anyone want to lend me Clerks? Maybe I'll just go and buy the tenth aniversy dvd. Apparently the sequal is due out next year.
Also anyone want to lend me Batman Begins? I've decided to finally get off my lazy ass and go see it somepoint this week. But if someone has a copy they can lend me, it be much appreciated.
Also trying to decide if I should go and download some Fiona Apple. Seeing as how I'll have to put up with 45-50 mins of her set I might as well go and see if any of its too my liking. If any Fiona Apple fans out there can recommend something, it would be appreciated also.
Anyway that's about all I wanted to say for now. Oh and Graham I got that Deerhoof cd to lend you. Its good. Weird, but good.

Coldplay

God damn you people are fast. Tickets went on sale today at 10. I logged in early thinking I would get at least something. And I did. But that something is not very good. Im going to be pretty up there. How do you people get them so fast? But whatever I just want to go see them, plus this way the tickets didn't cost me 89 bucks. plus an extra 11.50 convenient charge. How is it convenient to take 11.50 from me? Oh well. Im just glad to be going to finally see Coldplay. Anyone interested in seeing it with me? I hope they play Yellow.

The bladder that lived.

Okay. I want to make it perfectly clear, before I get going on this review, that I enjoyed this movie. I really did like it.
So with that in mind. Lets get to the positives. First, visually it was impressive. A lot of cool effects and all the things that would make Potter fans proud. Second it stuck relatively close to the book. More so then most of the previous movies, however that being said here is where my criticism comes in.
The movie itself felt choppy from the get go. Maybe that's because I couldn't shake the association with the book, but its plot lines seemed really rushed to me. Some examples. The quidditch world cup, seemed really rushed. Along with some of the tasks. Another problem I had with it, is some of the subplots were completely ignored. Now I understand that you only have 2 and a half hours for a completed movie, but I just think that some of the subplots (house elves for one) would have enhanced the movie a little more.
Now back to some positives. Casting was really good for this movie. Ralph Fines was an excellent choice, as was Brendan Gleeson. They really took on their roles and developed them as best they could. Another good thing with this movie, is it got the humor right, a lot of the characters were better comically than before.
The only thing I wish was there was more development between certain characters as there was in the novel. Cho and Harry. Ron and Fluer all could have been better developed in some way or another.
My last complaint for this movie is two fold. One the ending like, a few parts in the movie seemed tacked on. I wont give it away but it seems as if they were trying to find a positive note to end on, and came up with something really obscure.
Again had more time been used develop certain story lines I am sure the ending could have been smoothed out. But then again, its hard enough to sit through a 2 and half hour movie without having your bladder explode.
All in all I did enjoy this movie, as much as I enjoyed the book. It was nice to see it finally come to the screen, and even if at times it did seem rushed and choppy it still managed to stay loyal to the franchise and too the fans as well. Over all id give this a 7. Or at least one thumb up.

Side note: Superman trailer on the big screen is really impressive. And M. Knight's new movie looks really bizarre, but I'll probably still see it. Also I havent seen the movies this packed before in a long time. It reminded me a lot of previous Star Wars hype.

Potter.

Alright. So Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire was a bust last night. Sold out everywhere. We tried two separate theatres and neither had tickets. So tonight Divman and myself are venturing out again, to make an attempt to see this movie. Im really looking forward to this movie. Goblet of Fire is my favorite book of the series so far. Though I did really like the fifth, the sixth was a little disappointing. At any rate we'll be going to see it around 10 or so. So I'll probably post a review about it when I get back. Anyway I gotta get back to this English.

Bored.

So bored. Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that "Lost" may very well be the best show out there right now. Not to say other TV isn't good, but nothing has hooked me more then this series. Cept maybe anything Joss Whedon. But I digress.
So I registered for my classes for next semester today. I finally get to read Hamlet. So Vikram I will no longer be needing that copy of yours. Only problem with registering this semester is I kinda forgot to pay the hundred bucks, so I had to stand in line for 40 mins as spaces continued to fill, and I continued to panic. In the end though I still got all the classes I wanted. I also get to read Alice in Wonderland next semester too! Jealous? I know you're jealous.
The only other problem with next semester, is I'll finally be at SFU for more than 2 hours at a time. Which in a way can be a definite good thing. But also it means that I'll be stuck up there for a good while, which could also suck. As lets face it, its SFU and there's nothing to do up there.
Anyway, aside from all that stuff, I was just wondering if anyone is interested in seeing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with me? I'm planning on going either Friday, or Saturday. If they accept my ticket one of you may go for free. I knew that would spark your interest, ya cheap bastards!
Oh, also who wants to come see Coldplay with me? Be forewarned though that it might be incredibly expensive. But then again, it may not. I'll know by Monday. Anyway I've rambled on for long enough. So I say goodnight.

Well that pretty much sums up this crappy post.
